Hastings resident, Dale Laverne Sears, 83, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014 in Mesa, Arizona.

Services will be Wednesday, May 14, 2014; 1:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel with Rev. Dr. William Nottage-Tacey officiating. Masonic service will be by Mid-West Lodge #317 A.F. & A.M. Burial with military rites will be in Cedarview Cemetery, Doniphan, Nebraska. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Dale was born May 16, 1930 in North Platte, Nebraska to Fred H. & Rada (Silvrants) Sears. On April 27, 1952 he married Delores M. Stevenson in Hansen, Nebraska. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He and Delores moved to Hastings after their marriage. Dale began his career as a policeman with the Hastings Police Department and retired after 40 years of service to the citizens of Hastings, with the rank of sergeant. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #9, First Presbyterian Church, and UCT (60 years) all in Hastings. He was a member of the Sutton American Legion. Dale was also a member of Mid-West Lodge #317 A.F. & A.M., Tehama Shriners and its Potentate in 2002, Tehama Temple and Eastern Star Acacia Chapter #39. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, music, dancing, watching the Arizona weather from his deck, his family and three grandchildren.

Dale L. Sears was preceded in death by his parents.
