Dale White

Hastings resident, Dale E. "Skip" White, 76, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2009 at his residence at 4740 W. Prairie Lake Road, Hastings.

A private family funeral service will be held at Butler-Volland Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Lee Wigert officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 18, 2009; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.; and Thursday, November 19, 2009; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family present from 7:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Grace United Methodist Church, Hastings, or Asera Care Hospice, 1203 Allen Drive, Grand Island, Nebraska 68803.

Dale was born on September 17, 1933 to Sherman & Bernice (Taylor) White in Fairfield, Nebraska. He attended Clay County School. When he was not in school, he worked for area farmers in Clay County. He also worked for Morrison-Quirk Company and Garvey Elevators, Inc. He married Virginia K. Salzkorn of Sioux City, Iowa on November 4, 1955. He was called to military service in the U.S. Army on February 16, 1956. He served at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas (motor mechanics school) and Fort Sill, Oklahoma (artillery track vehicle maintenance course) before being deployed and stationed in Germany as Senior Tank/Track Vehicle Mechanic. He received many awards and letters of commendations from his commanders. He was very proud of his military service. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Dale's most treasured time was being with his family.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents.
