Daniel David Burr, 50, of rural Juniata, Nebraska, passed away while resting at home on Friday, February 9, 2018.
Dan was born to David and Janet (Lambrecht) Burr on August 23, 1967, at Mary Lanning in Hastings. He was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in rural Juniata. He graduated from Adams Central High School in 1985. Dan married Cheryl E. Smidt on February 10, 1990. They later divorced but remained close. Dan was born to be a farmer; when he was little, he used to stand in his crib and watch his dad and grandpa working in the yard. His daughters were the greatest joys of his life. Dan also enjoyed hunting, spending time at the lake, collecting scale model tractors as well as watching the Steelers, NASCAR and John Wayne movies. Dan was the life of the party and had the ability to bring smiles and laughter to everyone. He will be deeply missed by his many family and friends.
Dan is survived by his three daughters and son-in-law, Adam & Taylor (Burr) Hunt of Overland Park, KS, Jorie Burr of Lincoln and Morgan Burr of Hastings; parents, David and Janet Burr of Juniata; siblings and spouses, Brenda and Greg Jahnke of Sutton, Debbi and Jeff Barry of Hastings, Damon and Pam Burr of Juniata, Darin and Johnna Burr of Kenesaw and Shane and Kristen Burr of Wood River. Also, uncles, aunts, numerous nephews, nieces and other family members along with many friends including his most recent dear friend, Stacey Smith and a beloved dog, Oak.
Dan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Leda (Hinrikus) Burr and Otto and Lilia (Kroll) Lambrecht. Also, uncles Dick Burr, Duane Lambrecht, Delmer Bockstadter and Jack Wadman.
Services will be Thursday, February 15, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Juniata with Pastor Greg Volzke officiating. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery following services. Memorials may be given to the family for a later designation. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 14, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present at the funeral home and one hour prior to the services at the church.
