Hastings resident "Danny" DeWitt, 89, passed away Monday, May 31, 2010 at Lakeview Care Center, Grand Island, Nebraska.
Services will be Friday, June 4, 2010; 11:00 A.M. at Hastings Evangelical Free Church, Hastings with Pastor Matt Sass officiating. (There will be a private family burial with military rites in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.)
Danny was born October 12, 1920 in York, Nebraska to Jasper & Jennie (DeWitt) DeWitt. On October 12, 1941 he married Nelda Grace Hindman of York, Nebraska (currently Nelda Trisco of Perkins Pavilion Hastings, Nebraska). They were married for nearly 30 years. On September 14, 1943 he entered the U.S. Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged on March 9, 1946. He moved to Hastings in 1952. He eventually established the Daylight Donut Shop around 1970 and operated it for approximately 25 years. Danny was well known in the community for his sense of humor and practical jokes.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
