Daniel L. Fischer

Hastings resident Daniel L. “Dan” Fischer, 77, passed away Friday, February 28, 2025, at Grand Island VA Medical Center, Grand Island, NE.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 6, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Pastor Chris Johnson officiating. The burial with military honors by the Hastings Military Honor Guard will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at the funeral home and one hour before the service. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Dan was born December 20, 1947 to Gehert & Libby (Snell) Fischer in Burke, South Dakota. He graduated from Hastings High in 1967. Dan served in the United States Army from May of 1968 to October of 1969. His basic training was completed at Fort Lewis in Washington and his Advanced Individual Training was completed at Fort Ord in California. Dan was stationed in Korea. 

Dan worked for Dutton Lainson in the punch press and dye cast department from 1970-2009. He was a member of North Shore Assembly of God Church. Dan taught Bible study to inmates for 25 years and volunteered at prisons and the courthouse teaching God’s word. 

Dan was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry Fischer.
