Former Hastings resident, Daniel Lee Moore, 72, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Sumner Place in Lincoln, NE.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, October 3, at 11:30 a.m. at Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home with Pastor Kathy Uldrich officiating. Please join us for a celebration of life reception following the service from 1-4 p.m. at the Hastings Eagles Club, 107 N. Denver Avenue, to remember Daniel. Memorials may be given to the family to be established at a later date.
Daniel was born June 14, 1951, in Hastings, NE to R. Dale and Ruth (Howard) Moore. Daniel ran cross country in high school, graduating from Hastings High School in 1970. He married Kathy Phelps on April 24, 1981. Daniel was a devoted service worker in the Hastings community, working factory and elevator jobs, and spent several years in the food service industry working at Taylor’s Steakhouse and Kitty’s Roadhouse. He was selfless, always put his family first, and rarely complained. Daniel was a vibrant storyteller, very sociable, and enjoyed spending his time with family and friends. He was always a lucky gambler and enjoyed countless nights playing Bingo, and Keno, going to local casinos, and Vegas vacations. Daniel was an avid sports fan, supporting Nebraska Huskers football & Kansas City Chiefs. He loved country music, and his favorite artist was Willie Nelson who he saw twice in concert.
Daniel is joined in heaven by his parents, R. Dale Moore and Ruth Marie Howard.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy of Hastings; daughter and son-in-law, Kristen (Jeff) Elsener of Lincoln; and sister, Martha A. Lyon of Hastings.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
