Danny Kerns

Hastings resident, Danny L. Kerns, 73, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017, at home.

Services will be Thursday, July 13, 2017; 10:00 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Paul Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 12, 2017; 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.

Danny was born May 14, 1944, in Lubbock, Texas to Samuel & Betty (Ostrander) Kerns. As a young child, he and his sister were brought to a farm north of Fullerton to be raised by his grandparents, Ira & Gladys Ostrander. He went to country school until high school when he moved to town to work while attending school and graduated with a degree in business.

Danny moved to Hastings and worked for All Star Dairy, Rainbo Bread, Gibsons, Dana Corp, Eaton Corp and retired from LCL Trucking. He married Shirley (Nass) Doiel on August 2, 1975, mother of Michael, Michelle, and Mark Doiel. He had a great love for life, family, gardening, fishing, and sports.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law & father-in-law, Opal & Henry Nass; and all the aunts and uncles he lived with as brothers and sisters.
