Darlene Jones

Former Hastings resident, Darlene J. Jones, 61, of Hay Springs, Nebraska, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at St. Francis Medical Center, Grand Island, Nebraska.

Memorial service will be Friday, July 9, 2004; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church with Father Larry Gyhra officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Alliance, Nebraska at a later date.

Ms. Jones was born April 20, 1943 in Alliance, Nebraska to Leonard & Lucille (Conrad) Perkins. She graduated from St. Agnes Academy High School, Alliance, Nebraska and earned her Registered Nursing degree from Mary Mount College of Nursing, Larned, Kansas where she was a Registered Nurse at the state hospital. She was married and later divorced. She was Director of Nursing at Pioneer Manor in Hay Springs. She was a registered nurse at a State Hospital in Tennessee, before moving to Hastings in 1984 and working at the Hastings Regional Center. In 1993, she moved to Kansas and worked at a State Hospital until her retirement in 1998 when she moved to Hay Springs, Nebraska. While living in Hastings, Nebraska, she attended St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and the Women's Bible Study. She attended St. Columbkille in Hay Springs, Nebraska and sang at church services and volunteered at Pioneer Manor in Hay Springs, Nebraska after her retirement. She was a past member of the Nebraska Nurses Association.

Ms. Jones was preceded in death by one sister, Dinah.
