Darreld Harms

January 25, 1926 — September 3, 2015

Beatrice resident, Darreld L. Harms, 89, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Grand Island Veterans Home, Grand Island, Nebraska.

Graveside Services with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be Tuesday, September 8, 2015; 11:30 A.M. at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings in Block H with Mike Bremer officiating. Memorials may be given to Grand Island Veterans Home for the Anderson Building. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 8, 2015; 10:30 A.M. until service time at Butler Volland Funeral Home.

Darreld was born January 25, 1926 in Gosper County, Nebraska to Harry W. & Maude M. (Smith) Harms. He married Darlene M. Philby on May 19, 1944; she preceded him in death on January 28, 2013. Darreld served with the U.S. Navy from June 30, 1944 until May 18, 1946. He worked as a conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad. Darreld proudly received his GED from the VA in 2013. He was a member of V.F.W., American Legion and Eagles all in Beatrice, Nebraska. Darreld enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, and Husker football.

Darreld was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Darlene M. Harms; one son; one daughter; two brothers; and one sister.
