Dr. David L. Howe, 47, of 1512 Heritage Dr., Hastings, Nebraska, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001 in rural Hastings, Nebraska as a result of an accident.
Services will be Monday, July 9, 2001; 10:30 A.M. at Champions Sport & Recreation Complex, 1220 W. 18th Street, Hastings, Nebraska with Rev. Randy F. Madison officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Dr. David L. Howe was born March 9, 1954 in Kearney, Nebraska to Andrew D. & Nevabelle (Bridges) Howe. He graduated from Kearney High School, Kearney, Nebraska in 1972 and from Kearney State College , now University of Nebraska, Kearney in 1975 with a double major in Biology & Chemistry. In 1978, he received his Medical Degree, graduating with AOA honors from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine in 1981 and an Oncology fellowship in 1983, all at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska. On March 15, 1980, he married Janet Weedin in Aurora, Nebraska. They moved from Omaha, Nebraska to Hastings, Nebraska in 1983 where he began his practice of Cancer Specialists P.C. He was a member of Evangelical Free Church, where he served on the Board of Elders, Building Committee and worked with the Awana Program. He was the current President of the Nebraska Oncology Society. He was also a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncologist, Lymphoma Study Group, Nebraska Medical Association, Adams County Medical Society, Mary Lanning Memorial Cancer Committee, Department of Internal Medicine, where he was past chair, Pharmacy & Therapeutic Committee, Midwest Oncology Purchasing Society and the American Rose Society. He was active in the Relay for Life cancer walk in Hastings and the surrounding areas. He was a past member of the Gideon Society.
Dr. David L. Howe was preceded in death by his grandparents and father-in-law, Kenneth Weedin.
