David Peterson

Hastings resident, David D. Peterson, 57, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at his home.

Memorial Services will be Friday, March 15, 2013; 10:30 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church, Hastings with Rev. Dr. William Nottage-Tacey officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to the family. Book signing will be Thursday, March 14, 2013; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family present 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.

David was born November 7, 1955 in Hastings, Nebraska to Ward "Marion" & Dorothy (Saathoff) Peterson. He lived outside of Pauline, Nebraska on the farm until graduating from Adams Central High School in 1974. David attended Central Community College after high school. On November 10, 1979 he married Latishia Weaver and to this union was born his three cherished children. His two sons, Jeremy and James Peterson and his daughter, Trista Peterson. They later divorced and several years later he then married JoAnn Budd the love of his life and joined with her son Joey Budd to their union on December 21, 2001. JoAnn preceded him in death on November 24, 2007. David and his wife lived in the Hastings area most of their life until her passing in 2007. David spent his life working for the Burlington Northern Railroad until an injury where he then changed professions and worked at Armour Eckrich for several years and later for Sara Lee Bakery until retiring due to health conditions. He was a former member of the Hastings Lodge #50 A.F. & A.M. David enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and watching his son and daughter in their life achievements. He enjoyed his pet Pete, his loving Chihuahua and constant companion. David enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting and they were his great enjoyments next to his children. He will leave behind an abundant amount of love and lots of cherished memories for his children and those who knew him.

David was preceded in death by his infant son, James Peterson; wife, JoAnn Peterson; parents; and one brother, Larry Peterson.
