Dean Illingworth

Fairfield resident, Dean Illingworth, 95, passed away Monday, January 8, 2018, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Friday, January 12, 2018; 10:30 A.M. at Community Presbyterian Church, Fairfield, with Pastors Ivan & Joyce Dean officiating. Burial with military rites by Lewis-Trobough Fairfield American Legion Post #256 and Nebraska Army National Guard will be in Fairfield Cemetery, Fairfield. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Visitation will be Thursday, January 11, 2018; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. with family present 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home in Hastings, and one hour prior to service at the church.

Dean was born May 27, 1922, to Joe & Grace (Bearg) Illingworth at home in Fairfield, Nebraska. He received his education in Fairfield and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1940. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in June 1942. He was a Technical Sergeant with the 906th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion. He was stationed at the Panama Canal. He was honorably discharged in November 1945.

On returning, he farmed in rural Fairfield. On January 7, 1947, he was united in marriage to Mary Jo Squires in Manhattan, Kansas with close friends Floyd and Ila Mae Vires. To this union, two children were born, Janet and Rex. They continued farming near Fairfield until 1995 when they moved into Fairfield. In October 2016 Dean moved to the Harvard House Assisted Living in Harvard, Nebraska. Dean was a member for over 70 years with the Lewis-Trobough Fairfield American Legion Post #256.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; son, Rex; and brother, Art.
