Debra J. "Debbi" Clarke

Hastings resident Debra J. “Debbi” Clarke, 80, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023, at The Kensington, Hastings, NE.    

Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday, October 30, at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 31, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hastings with Father Craig Clinch officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. with family present 6-7 p.m. Monday, October 30, at the funeral home, and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be given to Catholic Social Services or the Debra J. Clarke Memorial Fund for Dementia & Memory Care. Debbi was born on December 29, 1942, in Omaha, NE to Clarence and Elizabeth (Patton) Voorhees. She graduated from Harvard High School in 1961 and attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Debbi married Douglas W. Clarke on June 11, 1965, in Hastings; he preceded her in death on March 8, 1988.

Debbi was, in her words, a stay-at-home Mom and kept herself very busy with volunteer church and community work. She, along with her husband and parents, were owners of Hastings State Bank for many years where she also served on the board. She also served on the Board of Directors of South Central Community Mental Health Services, Christian Counseling Ministries, AAA Crisis Pregnancy Center, Platte Valley Youth for Christ, and the Steering Committee of the Hastings Christian Action Council. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Benedictine Oblate, and Catholic Daughters of the Americas.   

Debbi was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Douglas W. Clarke.
