Hastings resident, Dee Renee Yost, 55, of 724 East 7th Street, passed away, Monday, March 26, 2007 at her home.
Memorial services will be Thursday, March 29, 2007; 10:30 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Adam White officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Dee was cremated and there will be no viewing. Book signing will be Wednesday, March 28, 2007; 9AM-9PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Dee R. Yost Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Hastings College Foundation, Willa Cather Pioneer Memorial and Educational Foundation, First St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Hastings Public Library Foundation.
Mrs. Yost was born April 13, 1951 in Auburn, Nebraska to Lawrence W. & Joyce A. (Kraft) Wattles. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Hastings College and her Master of Library Science Degree from Denver University, Denver, Colorado. She married Jonathan 'Dan' Yost on September 1, 1973. Her first job was working for the Norfolk Daily News as the Society Editor. From there her career began at the Norfolk Junior High School as Assistant Librarian. After her first son Kyle was born, the family moved to Hastings, Nebraska where she began working as the Music Librarian on the Hastings College campus. Her next position was as Assistant Librarian at the Hastings Public Library. It was during that time her second son, Kipp was born. Later on, she worked as the Library Administrator for the Republican Valley Library System, traveling to 22 counties in southwest Nebraska, providing consulting services. Then employment became available at Hastings College where she served as the Public Service Librarian and earned her Professor of Library Science designation. She was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, National Library Association, Nebraska State Library Association, Willa Cather Education & Memorial Foundation Board of Directors, Hastings Public Library Board, Friends of the Library, and P.E.O. She is past president of the Nebraska State Library Association. Her hobbies included, reading, traveling, antiquing, shopping, time in her flower garden and especially reading to her two grandsons, Peyton & Carson.
Mrs. Yost was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence W. Wattles.

She is also survived by other family members and friends.
