Delores Levander

Hastings resident Delores Anita (Meyer) Croon Levander, 95, passed away Friday, July 5, 2019, at Harvard Rest Haven, Harvard, NE.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Rev. Damen Heitmann officiating. The family has requested casual attire be worn if attending the service. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday with family present 7-8 p.m. and one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.

Delores was born March 31, 1924, in Alma, MO to George J. & Hilda (Schmidt) Meyer. She graduated from Alma High School in Alma, MO in 1941 and Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, MO in 1942. Delores married Harold D. Croon in 1944 in Pueblo, CO; he preceded her in death in 1945. She married Lloyd V. Levander in 1946; he preceded her in death on August 25, 2005.

Delores was employed as a bookkeeper at Swift & Co. and was a tax preparer for H & R Block from 1979 to 2000. She and Lloyd owned Levander Upholstery from 1954 to 1991. Delores was a member of First Presbyterian Church for 50+ years, BPO Does #112 serving as President in 1959 and was a 50-year member, and Eastern Star Acacia Chapter #39 serving as Worthy Matron in 1967 and was a 50-year member. She helped her husband, who served as chairman of the Nebraska Elks Association Benevolence Commission for medically handicapped children from 1980 to 1996.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Harold D. Croon and Lloyd V. Levander; daughter-in-law, Vicky Levander; two sisters and spouses, Oletha & Eugene Smith and Mabel & Lester Van Boening; grandson, Vance Croon; and step-grandson, Bradley Cronk.
