Delton Bates

Juniata resident, Delton M. Bates, 85, died Monday, May 11, 2009 at Perkins Pavilion.

Services will be Thursday, May 14, 2009; 10:30 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church southwest of Hastings, Nebraska with Pastor Renee Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 13, 2009; 1:00 P.M.- 9:00 P.M. with family present from 6:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home and Thursday, May 14, 2009; 1 hour prior to service at the church. Memorial may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Mr. Bates was born July 30, 1923 in Ayr, Nebraska to Virgil & Minnie (Andersen) Bates. He graduated from Ayr High School, Ayr, Nebraska in 1941 and married Marie B. Bunde at Immanuel Lutheran Church on August 29, 1943. She preceded him in death on May 5, 1997. He was a truck driver and worked in the warehouse for Midwest Distributors. Later, he drove a maintainer for Adams County Highway Department before retiring in 1985. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church southwest of Hastings, Chorus of the Plains, Eagles Club and of the Juniata Volunteer Fire Department.

Mr. Bates was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marie, four brothers, one sister and a son-in-law.
