Hastings resident, Delton Fredrick Rippen, 90, of 2970 Smokey Hill Road, died Sunday, June 29, 2008 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Wednesday, July 2, 2008; 10:30 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Monday, June 30, 2008; 5:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M, Tuesday, July 1, 2008; 9:00 A.M.-9:00 P.M. & Wednesday, July 2, 2008; 9:00 A.M until service time. A memorial will be established.
Mr. Rippen was born May 2, 1918 in Campbell, Nebraska to Fredrick & Laura (Lemmerman) Rippen. He served in the United States Army with the 14th Field Hospital from April 10, 1941 until November 28, 1945. On March 24, 1946, he married Colleen R. Barth in Hastings, Nebraska. He was a truck driver for Consolidated Motor Freight for 34 years. He was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, American Legion, D.A.V., and a life member of the V.F.W. Post 1346, all in Hastings.
Mr. Rippen was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Vivian; son, Wayne; brother, Kenneth and sisters, Melva McCartney, Hazel Jenkins, and Naomi Junker.
