Delwyn Swingle

November 7, 1933 — August 6, 2015

Hastings resident, Delwyn "Del" Lee Swingle, 81, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Memorial Services with Masonic memorial tribute and military rites will be Saturday, August 15, 2015; 10:30 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Scottish Rite - Ritecare Speech or First Presbyterian Church. There will be no viewing or visitation. Book signing will be Friday, August 14, 2015; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Del was born to Gerald & Marguerite (Block) Swingle in Hastings, Nebraska. He graduated from Denver High and enlisted in the United States Navy. Del was a salvage diver and served on the USS Ajax and USS Hector and received an Honorable Discharge. He returned to Hastings where he fell in love and married Ruth (Goldbeck) Swingle and had two children Gerry and Victoria. Del spent most of his career working as a pipe welder at Farmland Industries. He spent his spare time hunting, fishing, camping and training his dogs. Del was a long-time member of the 4 Rivers Sport Club, a life time NRA member, a past Master of Masonic Lodge #317 A.F. & A.M., a member of the Hastings VFW chapter, Historical Diving Society and the First Presbyterian Church.

Delwyn was preceded in death by his parents.
