Dennis Janssen

Glenvil resident, Dennis Duane Janssen, 64, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Tuesday, March 10, 2015; 10:00 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery, west of Glenvil. Visitation will be Sunday, March 8, 2015; 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. with family present, Monday, March 9, 2015; 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to Heartland ALS or donor's choice.

Dennis was born May 1, 1950 in Hastings, Nebraska to Richard & Elsie (Schlachter) Janssen. He was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, west of Glenvil. Dennis graduated from Hastings High School in 1968. He married Gerri Eigenberg on December 26, 1970 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Glenvil. Dennis served with the Nebraska Air National Guard from 1968 until 1974. He was an area farmer and received the Kiwanis Farm Family of the Year Award. Dennis attended First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings and was a member of the HHS Class of 1968 Alumni Reunion Committee and Westernaires Square Dance Club. He was an avid pool player and outdoorsman, and enjoyed going to area car shows.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joyce Bienhoff; and father-in-law, Waldeen Eigenberg.
