Hastings resident, DeWayne Lee Curtis, 65, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017, at his home.
Memorial Services will be Saturday, December 2, 2017; 2:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Paul Julian officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to DeWayne L. Curtis Memorial Fund. There will be no viewing or visitation. Book signing will be Friday, December 1, 2017; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. and one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
DeWayne was born August 17, 1952, in Hastings, Nebraska to Maynard B. & Helen (Miller) Curtis. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1970, Nebraska Law Enforcement Academy in 1974, and attended Central Community College. DeWayne married Barbara L. Engebritson on March 9, 1973.
DeWayne worked as a police officer in Hastings and Deputy Sheriff for Adams County Sheriff's Office. He owned Valentino's Pizza in Columbus, Grand Island, Colorado and Hastings; he was a well-known owner and operator.
DeWayne was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Monte Engebritson.
