Diane Berens

Hastings resident, Diane Rae Meseck Berens, 66, passed away Monday, August 28, 2017, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Celebration of Life will be Thursday, September 7, 2017; 2:00 P.M. at Adams County Fairgrounds Activities Building (East end) with Pastor Paul Warneke officiating. Private family burial will precede the celebration. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran School or family's choice. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Diane was born on September 7, 1950, in Denison, Iowa to Henry & Vera (Hansen) Meseck. She attended elementary and high school in Charter Oak, Iowa. She worked at Mutual of Omaha for one year. Diane earned her Bachelors and Masters of Business Administration from Bellevue University while working as the administrator for a nursing facility in the region and in Hastings for over 30 years.

She was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hanover in 1963. Her confirmation verse was John 3:16.

She married David Berens in June 15, 1969. They were privileged to observe their 48th wedding anniversary this year. To this union, they were blessed with two daughters, Sarah and Laura.

Diane was an avid reader and liked to embroider and also listen to books. She loved caring for her plants and her cat "Squeaky."

Her grandchildren were the "light of her life." She loved her yearly vacation at Estes Park, Colorado. She waited every year for the "Fire" event for Zion and Christ Lutheran Schools. Diane also enjoyed volunteering at Zion.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Norman.
