Hastings resident, Dolores Emmerich, 95, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at her home.
Rosary will be Friday, December 13, 2013; 6:30 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, December 14, 2013; 10:30 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to Hastings Catholic Schools for the music program. Visitation will be Friday, December 13, 2013; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Dolores was born May 15, 1918, in rural Ellsworth County, Kansas to Chris and Emma (Feist) Stumps. She graduated Bachelors in Music Education from Marymount College, Salina, Kansas, 1940; Married John R. Emmerich at Sacred Heart Church, Salina, January 1, 1942. He died in 1986. She was a school teacher in Kansas and Nebraska. Upon retirement from teaching, she joined the Choralettes with whom she enjoyed singing and performing. She also enjoyed piano, gardening, traveling, quilting, and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hastings for 68 years and longtime member of the Union Pacific Railroad Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Emmerich; parents; three brothers, Edward, Leo, and Walter Stumps; and three sisters, Eleanor Hujing, Agnes Warlop, and Teresa Shipley.
