Donald Charles Anderson, 60, 1254 Heritage Dr., Hastings, Nebraska, died Sunday, April 28, 2002 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Wednesday, May 1, 2002; 10:30 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Carl W. Utley officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Donald Charles Anderson was born January 10, 1942 in Hastings, Nebraska to Vern C. & Golden (Rule) Anderson. He graduated from Hastings Senior High School and from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science, Business Administration in January 1965. On June 19, 1964, he married Pat A. Mapes at the First Presbyterian Church, Hastings, Nebraska. He was a management trainee with State Farm Insurance in Lincoln, Nebraska from January 1965 to February 1966 when he became Personnel Director with Western Land Roller Company, Hastings, Nebraska. He served as a member of the Board of Directors and Corporate Secretary until it sold to Ingersoll-Rand Company in 1977. He left Ingersoll-Rand Company in May of 1980 and became owner/operator of Phelps Liquors until it was sold in December of 1990. From 1991 to the present, he was the Director of Professional Development at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital. Don was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Rotary Club where he was past Director and President, Director of Hastings Business Improvement District Board, Lochland Country Club where he was past Director and President, Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity and a life member of UNL Alumni Association. He was a past Director of Hastings State Bank, Hastings Area United Way, Hastings Utilities Board of Public Works, Salvation Army Advisory Board and Midwest Employer's Council, Omaha, Nebraska. He also was past President of Hastings Area United Way and Past Secretary of the Board for Hastings Utilities Board of Public Works. He was an avid Nebraska Husker Football fan and enjoyed snow skiing.
