Donald E. "Donnie" Streck

Donald Eugene Streck, lovingly known as Donnie, passed away on Friday, June 28th, 2024 at Good Samaritan Village.

Born on January 15, 1952 to Donald and Geraldine Streck in Hastings, NE. Donnie grew up surrounded by love from his family. On June 15, 1979, Donnie married Laurie Meisenbach, a union that brought him great happiness. Through this marriage, he gained a loving extended family.

Donnie is survived by his wife, daughter Dawn Walter (Matt), grandchildren Madeleine and Nehemiah who were his pride and joy. His loving sister, Janet Bockerman (Loren), nephew Jeff Bockerman (Jamee) and niece Jamie Trontvet (Gilbert) along with great nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A proud graduate of Hastings Senior High's class of 1972, Donnie's life was a testament to dedication, kindness and joy. In his younger years, Donnie enjoyed hunting and watching stock car races. This lead him to pursue the hobby of building model cars.

Over the years, Donnie worked various jobs, from his time on the turkey farm to Village Inn, always greeting everyone with a friendly smile. He was even awarded "Employee of the Month' on many occasions. Many will remember him for his work ethic and his warm, friendly nature.

A big part of Donnie's heart belonged to the Salvation Army, where he attended worship services, was an enthusiastic bell ringer and was a regular at Men's Camp, an event he looked forward to every year. Donnie's life was filled with simple joys, love for his family, and dedication to his community. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Geraldine Streck.

Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, at The Salvation Army in Hastings. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Book signing will be an hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation towards the Salvation Army's Western Plains Camp.
