Hastings resident, Donald D. "Don" Hartman, 87, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at his home.
Services will be Saturday, October 1, 2016; 1:00 P.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Andrea Paulson officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to First St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Nebraska Veterans Honor Flight. Visitation will be Friday, September 30, 2016; 1:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. with family present 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Don was born July 12, 1929 in Blue Hill, Nebraska to Henry & Ethel (Fisher) Hartman. He graduated from Blue Hill High School. Don married Phyllis Wendt on October 1, 1950 at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 until 1954 during the Korean War.
Don was employed as a semi-driver for 41 years. He was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He was also involved with the Nebraska Country Music Foundation and was an avid Husker fan.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and two brothers.
