Donald Hohner

Hastings resident, Donald L. Hohner, 77, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014.

Memorial Services will be Thursday, January 30, 2014; 2:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Rev. Dr. William Nottage-Tacey officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date. There will be no viewing or visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Heartland Pet Connection or Hastings Library Foundation / Building Fund.

Donald was born August 16, 1936 in Smith County, Kansas to Gustav & Esther R. (Winklemann) Hohner. He graduated from Holdrege High School in 1954. He served with the Nebraska National Guard. Donald married Barbara A. Woods on September 18, 1959. He worked for Holdrege Daily Citizen and Vaughan's Printers. Donald volunteered at Heartland Pet Connection, Hastings Literacy Program, and the Hastings Public Library. Donald was a past member of the Eagles Aerie #592 and Archery Club. He was a current member of Friends of the Hastings Library. He was a master woodworker, avid reader, enjoyed hunting and fishing, loved symphonic music, and was very proud of his grandchildren.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Bill Swindell.
