Hastings resident, Donald M. Loudon, 100, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Thursday, June 3, 2010; 2:30 P.M. at First Christian Church, Hastings with Rev. Dr. Judith Allen officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 1, 2010; 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 2, 2010; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family present 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and 1 hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to First Christian Church.
Donald was born July 10, 1909 in Omaha, Nebraska to Robert & Alma Jane (Hill) Loudon. They moved to Hastings in April of 1914 to the family farm. Don attended school district 23, and then graduated from Hastings High School in 1928. He married Helen M. Knosp on March 6, 1933. She preceded him in death on January 18, 2005. They continued to live on the family farm. They raised grain and livestock, and registered Polled Hereford cattle. He did custom machine work and worked part time for the farm programs over a period of 30+ years. He served on the school board, County Extension board, township board, and was a past member of Farm Bureau and NFD. He was a member of the First Christian Church. They retired in 1978 and moved into The Kensington in 2000.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen M. (Knosp) Loudon; one granddaughter, Tracy Galusha; and sister, Jean Loudon.
