Donald McCrady

Hastings resident, Donald E. McCrady, 85, passed away on January 10, 2016 at his home.

There will be no service. Private family burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be given in his name to the donor's choice.

Mr. McCrady was born on July 20, 1930 in Hastings, Nebraska to Thurlo and Edythe (Dominy) McCrady. He attended grade school in Hastings, and junior high and much of high school in Brookings, South Dakota. After graduating from Manhattan High School in Manhattan, Kansas in 1948, he attended Hastings College. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1953. On September 5, 1953 he married Leah Harrenstein in Hastings.

He owned and operated McCrady Hearing Aid Service, serving the central Nebraska area for over 50 years. He was a past president of the Nebraska Hearing Aid Association and had served on the Nebraska State Board of Hearing Aid Dealers and Fitters.

He was a past member of the Hastings Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow, Lochland Country Club, First Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge #50, Scottish Rite, Shriners and Eastern Star.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert McCrady; sister, Marilyn McCrady; and numerous brothers-and-sisters-in-law.

He is survived by his wife, Leah McCrady, of Hastings; daughter, Brenda McCrady of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister, Kathy Jensen of Oro Valley, Arizona; 11 nephews; eight nieces; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
