Hastings resident, Doris M. Kroger, 95, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Wednesday, October 19, 2016; 11:00 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel with Pastor Andrea Paulson officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 18, 2016; 9:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to First St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Doris was born October 14, 1921. She was the sixth child of Henry & Hannah (Pickering) Stark in Hastings, Nebraska. Her mother died when she was an infant and Doris was raised by her aunt Della (Pickering) & James Anderson on a farm near Eustis, Nebraska. Doris graduated from Cambridge High School. On October 12, 1941, she married Harold Post in Hastings, Nebraska. They farmed near Clay Center and Hastings area until his retirement and they moved to Hastings. Harold passed away on October 16, 1980.
On May 24, 1983, Doris married Al Kroger of Hastings and they remained in Hastings. Al passed away in 1993 and Doris remained in Hastings. Doris was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She worked at Sunnyside, Kerr Co., Brach - Thompson, and Earl May. She loved dancing, whistling, birds, ceramics, gardening, cooking, painting, and visiting. Doris did a lot of traveling in her retirement.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; her siblings from the Stark & Anderson families; and granddaughter, Angela Zulkoski.
