Hastings resident, Dorothy F. McDermott Einsel, 77, died Wednesday, September 19, 2001 at her home after a long battle with a syndrome of Parkinson's, Progressive Supra Nuclear Palsy.
Services will be Monday, September 24, 2001; 2:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Carl W. Utley officiating. A private family interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska
Dorothy F. Einsel was born March 29, 1924 in Denver, Colorado to John & Evelyn (Olsen) McDermott. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1942 and attended Hastings College. On May 11, 1945, she married Kenneth D. Einsel in Hastings, Nebraska. He preceded her in death in 1994. As well as being a member and volunteer at the First Presbyterian church, she was a founding member of the Hastings Child Development Counsel, which later formed Pooh's Corner Day Care and a local shelter for battered spouses and children. She was once active with the Adams County Historical Society. She authored numerous monthly articles for the society as well as co-authored a book on the history of Adams County, which was read into the minutes of the U.S. Congress. Dorothy was also a guardian of Jobs Daughters, Bethel 8, a member of Chapter G PEO and was an avid bridge player.
Dorothy F. Einsel was preceded in death by; her parents; husband, Kenneth, brother; John 'Bud' McDermott and a granddaughter, Danielle Einsel.
