Hastings resident, Dorothy M. Heil, 90, died at her home on Wednesday, July 18, 2012.Services will be Monday, July 23, 2012; 2:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel with Pastor Tony Dawson officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to the Christine Krieger Academic Scholarship Fund at Hastings College or Tehama Shrine Auxiliary. Visitation will be Sunday, July 22, 2012; 1:00 P.M. - 9 P.M. with family present 4:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Visitation will also be Monday at the funeral home from 9:00 A.M. until service time. Dorothy was born December 13, 1921 in Hastings, NE to Henry C. and Emma (Traut) Krieger. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1939 and Hastings College in 1943. Dorothy taught art at Spencer Park, Bayard, Nebraska and Hastings Public Schools. She married Leonard L. Heil on April 22, 1945 and he preceded her in death on August 22, 1997. She was a member of the Acacia Chapter # 39 of the Order of the Eastern Star and past Matron, member of the Daughters of the Nile, NAAMAH chapter and past Queen, and member of the Tehama Shrine Auxiliary. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church, Hastings Retired Teachers' Association and Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. Dorothy enjoyed reading, sewing for the Shrine Auxiliary, gardening and going fishing at Johnson's Lake on weekends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard L. Heil, and brother, Marshall Krieger.
