Our beloved aunt, great-aunt, and great-great-aunt, Dorothy Anna Kramer, 98, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.
Rosary will be Monday, January 9, 2017; 5:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, January 10, 2017; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, our family respectfully requests memorials to be given to the Father McCabe Endowment Fund, a charity of your choice, or to the family for masses in Dorothy's memory. Visitation will be Monday, January 9, 2017; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Dorothy Anna Kramer, fifth child of Albert M. Kramer & Ella (Zubrod) Kramer, was born on a farm in Roseland, Nebraska on October 7, 1918. She graduated from Roseland High School in 1937 and lived in Arlington, Virginia from 1942 until January 1944. Dorothy began her career at Mary Lanning Hospital in January 1944 as ward aide and nurse's aide. In 1956 she received her LPN license, after 36 years of employment she retired in 1980. Dorothy enjoyed dancing, reading, writing letters, cooking, and singing. Her favorite color was red. Dorothy was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Altar Society, Legion of Mary, life member of the Hospital Auxiliary, and a member of Eagles Auxiliary and Beta Sigma Phi. She volunteered her time for over 30 years. Dorothy and her family extend a very special thank you to all of her relatives and friends who lovingly have been with her throughout her life. The family would like to thank the staff at Mary Lanning Healthcare, especially Colleen Vacek and her special friends; Holly Potts, Janice Hoffman, and Arlene Harper who stayed by her side at Mary Lanning. Also, the family would like to express their thanks to the Trausch family who have been family friends for 3 generations. Dorothy, we will hold you lovingly in our hearts, thoughts, prayers, and memories until we meet again.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother and sister; sisters, Iola Kramer and Florence S. Osborn; brothers & sisters-in-law, Leslie & Frances Kramer, Earl & Carmella Kramer; nephews, Clyde Kramer and Lawrence Kramer; great-nephew, Jason Lawrence Kramer; great-great-niece Gianna Marie Saunders; and great-great-nephew, Alex William Saunders.
