Glenvil resident, Dorothy Mae Mohling, 83, passed away Monday, November 14, 2011 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Friday, November 18, 2011; 10:30 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Thursday, November 17, 2011; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family present from 6:00 P.M. - 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to First St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Dorothy was born February 1, 1928 in Hastings, Nebraska to Earl F. & Grace (Asmus) Stromer. She attended rural grade school through 8th grade and graduated from Hastings High School in 1945. On her birthday in 1948 she married Wesley W. Mohling of rural Adams County. Having been raised on the farm she helped her husband farm for years as well as being a homemaker. In 1952, Dorothy and Wes started square dancing and with Wes becoming a square dance caller, she became very involved with square dancing and scheduling calling dates for Wes. She was an avid seamstress, making many of her square dance clothes and many other clothing items. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and raising flowers. Dorothy was an active member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, making quilts with the sewing group and also helped with church luncheons. She was also a member of the Modern Homemakers group of Hastings.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Wesley Mohling.
