Dorothy Ann Schaffroth, 88, of Omaha, NE, formerly of Hastings, NE passed away Friday, June 6, 2008 at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, NE.

Rosary will be Tuesday, June 10, 2008; 7:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, June 11, 2008; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church with Father Troy Schweiger officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 10 , 2008; 5:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. at the funeral home and Wednesday, June 11, 2008; 1 hr. prior to service at the church.

Dorothy was born Sept. 6, 1919 in Brule, NE to Frank & Elizabeth Nodlinski. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1937. She married Sanford "Sandy" Schaffroth on Oct. 16, 1940. They had two daughters, Sandra & Judy. Dorothy was a member of St. Cecilia's Altar Society, "Cut-ups" sewing group and various card clubs. Dorothy and Sandy were active for many years with the St. Cecilia's Bazaar. Dorothy and Sandy started Santa's Wonderland at 11th & Minnesota in 1965 and because of this received the "Service to Mankind" award from the Sertoma club and "The Good Neighbor Citation" award given by the Knights of Aksarben. After years of bringing cheer to thousands of children, they began crafting for yearly boutiques. Sandy passed away in December of 1994. After years of their volunteer work at Good Samaritan Village, Dorothy became a resident of the Village Terrace in 2000 and then moved to Omaha in 2006. Dorothy was a very loving and giving person. She truly will be missed.

Preceded in death by her husband, parents, 3 sisters, Virginia Jackson, Delores Burchess and Irene Heffernan and 1 brother Kenneth Nodlinski.

Survivors are her two daughters and husbands Sandra & Gary Copperstone of Branson, MO and Judy & Terry Tonkin of Omaha, NE. 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
