Hastings resident, Duane Burr, 84, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, June 21, 2014; 10:00 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers and Beth Fotinos, Lay Pastor officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be Saturday, June 21, 2014; 9:15 A.M. in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Friday, June 20, 2014; 3:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. with the family present 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Kenesaw Presbyterian Church. Lunch will follow at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Mr. Burr was born to Victor and Edna (Augustin) Burr on August 17, 1929 at rural Juniata, Nebraska. He attended Rising Star Elementary and Christ Lutheran School at Juniata, Nebraska and was confirmed there on May 9, 1943. He graduated from Juniata High School in 1947. Following high school he attended Hastings College for one year. On November 20, 1949, he married Esther Hermann at Christ Lutheran Church, Juniata. He was a member of U.S. Armed Forces for two years and served in the Korean Conflict. After leaving the service he farmed northwest of Juniata. He was a partner in B-E Excavating. In 1992, he retired and he and Esther moved to Hastings. In retirement he worked part-time for T-L Irrigation. On September 3, 2006 he married Millie Shurigar. He was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church and also attended Kenesaw Presbyterian Church. He was a member of VFW Post 1346 and Kenesaw American Legion. He was a loving and generous father, grandfather, husband and friend and will be greatly missed.

Mr. Burr was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roger; wives, Esther and Millie.
