Hastings resident, D.W. 'Monte' Malouf, 91, of 1118 North Kansas, died Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Memorial service with Masonic Rites will be Monday, April 14, 2008; 10:30 A.M. at the Masonic Temple Auditorium with Rev. Dr. William G. Nottage-Tacey officiating. Private family interment with military rites prior to service in Parkview Cemetery, both in Hastings, Nebraska. Book signing will be Saturday, April 12, 2008; 9AM-5PM & Sunday, April 13, 2008; 1PM-9PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Tehama Temple Hospital Patient Transportation Fund or First Presbyterian Church Chapel Restoration Fund.
Mr. Malouf was born March 18, 1917 in Richfield, Utah to William & Adele (Rassie) Malouf. He graduated from Hollywood High School, Hollywood, California in 1935. He served in the United States Navy during WWII from March 27, 1943-November 26, 1945. He received the Asiatic- Pacific Theater Medal with six stars, American Theater, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal WWII and Presidential Unit Citation. On November 9, 1946, he married Virginia Eck in Las Vegas, Nevada. They moved from Los Angeles, California to Hastings, Nebraska in 1947.He was Plant Manager of Mode O' Day for 48 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Hastings Lodge #50 A.F. & A.M., Hastings York Rite Bodies, Tehama Temple-Potentate 1967, International Association of Past Potentates Hastings Chapter #45, Royal Order of Jesters Hastings Court #152 and a past member of Hastings Scottish Rite Bodies. He was member of V.F.W, American Legion Post 11, Eagle's Club, a life member of the Elk's Club and D.A.V., a former member of Tehama Temple Board, Hastings Chamber of Commerce-Board of Directors, Hastings Corporation now HEDC-Board of Directors, Hastings Housing Authority, City Council 1958-1961, Mayor 1972-1976 and County Board Member 1984-1996. He served 2 years on the Board of Directors Nebraska Association of County Officials (NACO), and was a past member of the Nebraska Shrine Bowl Board of Directors. He received the Jaycee's Outstanding Boss Award in 1949 & Jaycee's Good Government Award in 1973. He was a past charter member of Lochland Country Club.
Mr. Malouf was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
