Hastings resident Earl E. Christy, 88, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.    

Memorial Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 13, at Grace United Methodist Church in Hastings with Rev. Benjamin Hanne officiating. Private family interment will be held at Grace United Methodist Church Columbarium with military honors by the Nebraska National Guard. Visitation will be 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. with family present 5-7 p.m. Friday, January 12, at the funeral home, and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be given to Grace United Methodist Church. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Earl was born January 22, 1935, in Emporia, KS to Earl M. and Mildred L. (Berkshire) Christy. He graduated from Hartford High School and received his Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Economics from Kansas State University. Earl served in the U.S. Army Reserves from October 16, 1961 to January 31, 1964. He married Rosalie Colglazier on June 9, 1957, in Hartford, KS.

Earl was a grain manager for Morrison Enterprises. He was very involved in the community by serving on the School Board for Hastings Public Schools, was a member of Stephen’s Ministry, Grace United Methodist Church, Men’s Fellowship and Bible Study at Grace United Church, 4-H Leader, Little League Baseball Coach, Midget Football Coach, and Mary Lanning Hospital Volunteer.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Mac Christy and Mildred Louise Griffiths, and step-father, Vernon Griffiths.
