Hastings resident, Earl S. Wolcott, Jr., 94, passed away Friday, January 16, 2015 at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be held on Friday, January 30, 2015; 10:00 A.M. at Livingston Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with the Rev. Steven Peeler officiating. Burial with military rites by Offutt Air Force Base Military Funeral Honor Guard and Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Thursday, January 29, 2015; 9:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. with family present 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be given to American Diabetes Association and the United Service Organizations (USO).
Earl was born April 14, 1920 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Earl S. Wolcott, Sr. & Emma M. (
nee
Lesher) Wolcott. He served with the U.S. Army, Army Air Force and United States Air Force from 1938 until 1966; retiring as a Major in the reserves in 1984. Earl married Ina Maye Neel on February 16, 1946 in Burbank, California; she preceded him in death in 1985. Earl and "Neel" moved to Hastings in November 1959 from Phoenix, Arizona. After retiring from the Air Force, Earl worked for Hastings Industries from 1966 until 1984 as a final test inspector. Earl received three Distinguished Flying Crosses, three Air Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, and Non-Commissioned Officer Academy Award.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Ina Maye ("Neel") Wolcott.
