Edith Glantz

Former Hastings resident, Edith M. Glantz, 94, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Vintage Park Assisted Living, Ottawa, Kansas.

Services will be Monday, July 20, 2009; 1:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, both in Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Monday, July 20, 2009; Noon to 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Meal on Wheels in Hastings & Ottawa, Kansas.

Mrs. Glantz was born August 1, 1914 to John & Christine (Hessler) Hohnstein in Hastings, Nebraska. She grew up in Hastings and married Jack Glantz on November 7, 1936. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1995. They moved to Central City, Nebraska in 1941 where they owned and operated the local Gambles Store for over 40 years. Edith had resided in Central City until 1992 when she and Jack moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. Following Jack's death, Edith moved with her daughter, Kris, to Kansas. She is remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack and brothers; Henry, Adam and Paul Hohnstein and sister, Pauline Kniss of Gothenburg.
