Minden resident, Edith J. Vannier, 89, died Saturday, July 20, 2002 at Bethany Home, Minden, Nebraska.
Services will be Tuesday, July 23, 2002; 10:30 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hildreth, Nebraska with Rev. Donald Hunzeker officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Hildreth, Nebraska.
Edith J. Vannier was born July 4, 1913 in Hildreth, Nebraska to John & Anna (Raveling) Quadhamer. Her childhood years were spent on the family farm south of Hildreth. Edith and her family were active members of Emmanuel Lutheran Church which was located next to the farm. She married Burton Vannier of Hildreth on September 12, 1940 in Hildreth, Nebraska. They resided on a farm north of Hildreth until 1946. They then moved to Hildreth where they owned and operated Vannier Transfer. In 1955, the growing family moved to Holdrege, Nebraska to merge their trucking business into Consolidated Motor Freight. Edith moved to Hastings, Nebraska after the death of her husband in 1957,where she continued as a partner & employee of Consolidated Motor Freight until her retirement in 1977. She was an active member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings until 1994 when she moved to the Bethany Home in Minden, Nebraska.
Edith J. Vannier was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Burton, 2 sisters and an infant brother.
