Former Hastings resident, Edmund E. Jensen, 91, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at his residence at the East Park Villa, 1704 "L" Street, in Aurora, NE.

Services will be Monday, August 24, 2009; 2:00 P.M. at First Christian Church, in Hastings with the Rev. Dr. Judith Allen and Rev. Tom Osborne officiating. Burial with military rites will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Sunday, August 23, 2009; 2:00 - 5:00 P.M. with family present and Monday, August 24, 2009; 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. with family present at Butler-Volland Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to Shriners Hospital for Children or Donor's Choice.

Edmund was born September 30, 1917 in Marquette, Nebraska to Soren & Elise (Jensen) Jensen. He attended Aurora Schools and graduated in 1936. On February 19, 1942 he entered the Army, and was honorable discharged on December 27, 1945. On August 27, 1942, he married Mildred Turner of Harvard, Nebraska. She preceded him in death on March 22, 2007. He owned Jensen's Bakery & Cafeteria from 1941 to 1972, and then worked as a director of food service at the Good Samaritan Village from 1972 to 1982. He was a member of the 1st Christian Church, Midwest Lodge #317 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite, American Legion Club, lifetime member of V.F.W., Elks Lodge and Country Club, Eagles, and U.C.T.

Edmund was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister, Mae Bengtson.
