Edna Eckert

Hastings resident, Edna M. Eckert, 91, of 738 East 3rd Street, died Friday, January 30, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Services will be Saturday, February 7, 2009; 9:30 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Thursday, February 5, 2009; 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. and Friday, February 6, 2009; 8:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M. at the funeral home and Saturday, February 7, 2009; 1 hr. prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to the Golden Friendship Center or First St. Paul's Lutheran Radio Ministry.

Mrs. Eckert was born February 9, 1917 to John O. & Antke M. (Dudden) Theesen in Glenvil, Nebraska. She married Alexander Eckert on August 7, 1938 and he preceded her in death on July 11, 1989. She worked as a credit manager for Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital. She also worked for H& R Block. She was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, WELCA, YWCA, AARP, Friendship Tea and volunteered at The Food Pantry and Gift Shop at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Eckert was preceded in death by her husband: Alexander Eckert, Sr.; parents, John Okkel & Antke Marie (Dudden ) Theesen; three sisters, Margaret Bunting, Thelma Coutts and Arlene Milam; four brothers, Delbert, Virgil, Charles and Henry Theesen and a great grandson, Logan Kluver.
