Edward Joseph Bourg

Roseland resident Edward Joseph “Ed” Bourg, 93, passed away Monday, January 27, 2025, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE. 

Rosary will be 7 p.m. Friday, January 31, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 1, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseland with Father Corey Harrison officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Military Honor Guard will be at Roseland Cemetery in Roseland. Visitation will be 12-4 p.m. Friday, January 31, at Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home, and one hour before the rosary at the church in Roseland. Memorials may be given to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Chorus of the Plains, or Morrison Cancer Center. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Ed was born November 17, 1931, in Juniata, NE to A. G. “Gus” and Anne (Diederich) Bourg. He graduated from Roseland High School in 1948 and attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for one year. Ed served in the U.S. Marines from 1952 to 1954. He married Bonnie Norwood and to this union they had four children.

Ed farmed in the area for many years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Chorus of the Plains for over 40 years, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Eagles Club, and Crosier Apostolate. 

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers and sisters; several nieces and nephews; and other family members.
