Edward Jungck

Hastings resident, Edward "Ed" J. Jungck, 89, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Tuesday, October 3, 2017; 10:00 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Paul Dunbar officiating. Burial will be Tuesday, October 3, 2017; 3:00 P.M. in Fairbury Cemetery, Fairbury. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at later date. Visitation will be Monday, October 2, 2017; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. with family present 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.

Ed was born August 11, 1928, in Chester, Nebraska to Arthur H. & Alice C. (Wessel) Jungck. He graduated from Fairbury High School in 1947. Ed served in the U.S. Navy with the Seabees where he was involved in naval construction from September 1950 to July 1954. He married Phyllis J. Workman on July 19, 1952, in Beatrice, Nebraska; she preceded him in death on December 13, 2008.

Ed worked for LT&T where he had numerous positions over 44 years and retired as a supervisor. He also farmed for Jack Halloran for over 40 years. Ed was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Elks for 32 years, American Legion, a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Chamber of Commerce in Sutton, Nebraska. Ed was very involved with sports since his high school days, he excelled at football, basketball, and track. Later he enjoyed watching football, baseball, and any sporting event. Ed was an avid Husker fan and enjoyed bowling.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis J. Jungck; son, Steven E. Jungck; and brother, Marion "Gus" Jungck.
