Edwin Rief

Hastings resident, Edwin H. Rief, 72, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014 at his home.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, February 22, 2014; 10:30 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Paul Dunbar officiating. Burial will be Saturday, February 22, 2014; 9:00 A.M. in Cedarview Cemetery, Doniphan, Nebraska. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be given to Start Over Rover or Hastings Food Bank.

Edwin was born January 21, 1941 in Adams County, Nebraska to Henry E. & Gesina (Tjaden) Rief. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1959 and attended Hastings College. Edwin married Marilyn Rae West on December 31, 1963 in Grand Island, Nebraska; she preceded him in death on July 22, 2004. He was a salesman for T-L Irrigation and was the main pilot for several years before he retired. Edwin was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed being outside fishing, hunting, and farming.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
