Eileen Mary Kieffe

Hastings resident Eileen Mary Kieffe, 100, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Hillcrest Country Estates, Papillion, NE.    

Rosary will be at 10 a.m., Friday, May 3, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 a.m., at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Hastings with Father Jeremy Hazuka officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hastings Catholic Schools Trust, Hastings Catholic Services Food Pantry, or Hastings Food Pantry. Eileen was born May 18, 1923, in Campbell, NE to Katie (Hemberger) and Charles Horton. She attended Campbell High School and graduated from Hastings High School in 1940. Eileen married Hugh Kieffe on April 17, l948; he preceded her in death on April 27, 1998.

Eileen was a faith-filled Catholic and was an active member of St. Michael’s Church where she was a member of St. Michael’s Church Altar Society and a former member of the Saint’s Quilting Group. Eileen retired from the Hastings Public Schools. Eileen centered her life around her family, her church, and her friends. She also enjoyed playing Bridge and Pinochle with friends in a group for over 40 years. Eileen was a gentle, caring, and compassionate woman. We are so fortunate to have had her strength, her example, and her generous heart for so long.

 Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; three brothers; and a son, Dick Kieffe.
