Hastings resident, Elaine Elizabeth Pittz, 81, of 719 Crane, died Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Wake Service will be Thursday, January 15, 2009; 7:00 P.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 16, 2009; 10:00 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 13, 2009; Noon to 9:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 14, 2009; 9:00 A.M.-9:00 P.M., Thursday, January 14, 2009; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home and 1 hr. prior to Wake Service at the church. Friday, January 16, 2009; 1 hr. prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to Hastings Catholic Schools Trust Fund or St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Elaine was born December 17, 1927 on the family farm south of Roseland, Nebraska to Mathias John & Margaretha Brigetta (Seyler) Consbruck. She graduated from Kenesaw High School in 1945 and attended Kearney State Teacher College in Kearney, Nebraska. She taught school at District #14 north of Juniata in 1945-1946, District #56 north of Holstein in 1946-1947 and District #11 in Holstein from 1947-1951. On June 7, 1949, she married James N. 'Jim' Pittz at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Kenesaw. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Altar Society, Hastings Catholic Athletic Activities where she was treasurer with Jim for 25 years. She was also a member of the Volkswagen Club of Nebraska and Tri-City Volkswagen Club. She was a lifelong Adams County and Hastings resident.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; step mother, Grace Consbruck and three sisters, Evelyn Loskill, Darlene Halbmaier & Helen McGraw.
