Hastings resident, Elizabeth "Betty Jo" Trenchard, 89, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.
Memorial services will be Monday, May 5, 2014; 11:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church, Hastings with Rev. Dr. William Nottage - Tacey officiating. Private family interment will be at a later date. Book signing will be Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church, Hastings Community Foundation or Nebraska PEO Home - Beatrice, Nebraska.
Betty Jo was born December 23, 1924 in Kearney, NE to Barlow and Jeanette (Cook) Nye. She graduated from Kearney High School and attended Kearney State Teachers College. She also attended the University of Nebraska, where she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. On March 10, 1945, she married Robert Trenchard of Hastings, Nebraska. Betty Jo was a homemaker and was very active in the Presbyterian Church in Holdrege and Hastings, serving on the Session and as an Elder and Deacon. She was past president of Chapter H, P.E.O in Holdrege and has been a member of P.E.O for 71 years. She was past president of Mary Lanning Auxiliary and Hastings Symphony Auxiliary. She was a member of American Cancer Society, Red Cross, Chapter G, P.E.O., Lochland Country Club, and George Eliot Book Club.
Betty Jo was preceded in death by her parents, brother; Thomas Nye, and grandson; Todd Trenchard.
