Elizabeth Voorhees

Former Hastings resident, Elizabeth J. (Patton) Voorhees, 88, died Monday, December 26, 2005 at Blue Hill Care Center, Blue Hill, Nebraska.

Memorial services will be Friday, December 30, 2005; 10:30 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Father Steven Major officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, all in Hastings, Nebraska.

Mrs. Voorhees was born December 28, 1916 in Walt Hill, Nebraska to William A. & June E. (Davidson) Patton. She graduated from East High School in Sioux City, Iowa and attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. She moved to Omaha, Nebraska and worked as a secretary for several businesses. On October 19, 1936, she married Clarence T. Voorhees in Omaha, Nebraska and he preceded her in death on March 13, 1994. They moved to Harvard, Nebraska where he and his brother, Leland owned the Harvard State Bank. They moved to Hastings, Nebraska in 1963 and founded Hastings State Bank. After retirement, they split their time between Hastings, Nebraska and Sun City, Arizona, until 1999, when Elizabeth moved back to Hastings. She was a past member of First Presbyterian Church, P.E.O. Chapter G, Eastern Star, D.A.R and Fortnightly.

Mrs. Voorhees was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clarence and a sister, Winifred Patton.

Grandchildren: David Clarke - Omaha, NE
Abby Schneider - Hastings, NE
Zachary Clarke - Hastings, NE
Joshua Clarke - Ojai, CA

Memorial may be given to American Cancer and Heart Society of Hastings, NE
