Hastings resident, Ellen 'Claire' Halloran, 95, of The Kensington, died Monday, July 6, 2009 at The Kensington.

Rosary will be Thursday, July 9, 2009; 7:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 10, 2009; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Thursday, July 9, 2009; 1:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. at the funeral home & Friday, July 10, 2009, 1 hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia's Alter Society or St. Cecilia's Centennial Hall Building Fund.

Claire was born on a farm east of Hastings on June 16, 1914 to Dan & Mary(Stewart) Halloran, She had two sisters, Mary Evelyn and Dorothy. She was a lifelong resident of Hastings and worked for J.M. McDonalds Department Store, retiring after forty years of dedicated service. Since retirement, she has volunteered her time at various organizations including her church, Catholic charities and Mary Lanning Hospital Gift Shop. Claire loved people, especially her family and neighbors. She also enjoyed her vegetable garden, the New York Yankees, Nebraska Cornhusker football and social gatherings. Her Irish heritage was something she was very proud of. She was a lifelong member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. Her faith and strong sense of honor made her an inspiration to all. Her quick wit and love of life made her a joy to be with.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters and two nephews, Joe & Bob.

She will be deeply missed by her nephews and nieces, Jim Berzina of Wichita Falls, TX and wife Carol, Rick Berzina of Franklin, TN and wife Paula, Dan Carr of San Diego, CA, and wife Cynthia, George Carr of San Diego, CA, Mimi Carr of San Diego, CA and husband Doug, Kathie Payne of Lincoln, NE and husband Galen, Carol Berzina of Sioux City, IA, Linda Schooley of Rapid City, SD and Carol Buboltz of Cold Spring, MN and husband Gene, ten great nephews and nieces and six great, great nephews and nieces.
